How to Play Snake.io

Matches start with a small-sized snake. Explore the map and collect food to grow the length of your body. The bigger you get the more space you can take up and the harder it is for smaller opponents to get around you.

The trick is to keep your movement under control in a space crowded with other active snakes. One poorly-timed collision and you’re done for.So watch what nearby snakes are doing before you change direction or boost.

Hunting and Growing Food

Food is the fuel your snake grows on. Food-rich areas often have multiple players at once, so rushing into a crowd isn’t always the best move.

When you get longer use the size to force opponents to change direction. Cutting them off at the right time can make other snakes crash into you, leaving more food on the map.

Getting the Timing Right

Snake.io features a boost mechanic that allows you to reposition quickly when necessary. To activate it, hold down the left mouse button or spacebar.

Speed is useful for avoiding players, reaching good feeding areas, or making a surprise cut-off. If you don’t need to use it all the time, don’t. It’s more important to be in control of your direction than to just go fast.
