Play Shell Survivor, guide a fearless egg through 20 alien waves, collect materials, upgrade six auto-firing weapons, and defeat bosses in this roguelite arena!
Shell Survivor is an arena-survival game with roguelite mechanics, in which you control a tiny egg battling against an army of purple aliens. Your character can be equipped with up to six weapons that fire automatically, while you must constantly stay on the move, dodge enemies, and collect resources. The goal is to survive 20 waves of monsters, defeat the final boss, and build a loadout powerful enough to conquer higher difficulty levels.
Each session of Shell Survivor begins in a graveyard swarming with alien creatures. You start with only a single, basic weapon and limited combat capability. As the waves progress, you can evolve your egg into a formidable warrior wielding guns, blades, and missiles.
Weapons fire automatically, so there is no need for manual aiming or attacking. Instead, your focus is on navigating safely through swarms of monsters closing in from all directions.
Each wave lasts between 20 and 90 seconds. A full run typically takes about 20 minutes, depending on your survival skills and how you choose to build your character.
From the very start, you can choose from 17 different characters. Each one comes with its own set of strengths and weaknesses, which influence how you utilize weapons, allocate stats, and handle enemies.
You can experiment with various characters to discover a playstyle that suits you best before taking on more demanding challenges.
Shell Survivor offers 56 types of weapons and 136 items for players to combine and experiment with. Instead of buying everything that appears in the shop, choose a development strategy early on.
You can focus on a few preferred weapon categories, boost your offensive power, or enhance your survivability. Two identical weapons of the same tier can also be merged to create a superior version, up to a maximum of Tier 4.
The alien forces in Shell Survivor consist of 39 enemy types, including 8 elite variants and 2 final bosses.
The game features seven difficulty levels, ranging from "Danger 0" to "Nightmare." Each victory unlocks the next challenge.
With difficulty, there are dangerous monsters, there are special enemies, and there are surprises. For example, in wave 20 at Danger 5, two bosses spawn.Beat Danger 5 with 10 different characters to unlock Nightmare.

Do do it with 1/17 characters and your difficulty. "Danger 0" is a good new player because it's perfect for getting used to attack range, movement speed, and automatic weapon system.
As soon as the match starts enemies will spawn in the map. You only need to control your character's movement, as the weapon system automatically targets and attacks enemies.
Defeated monsters drop resources, which serve both as experience points for leveling up your character and as currency for purchasing equipment in the shop. Upgrading Stats and Purchasing Equipment
Each time you level up, the game presents four stat-upgrade options, from which you must choose one.
After each wave, the shop opens. Here, you can purchase weapons and items, refresh the shop’s inventory, lock items you wish to keep, or sell equipment you no longer need.
Monitor what supplies you have before dispensing, because you'll need additional supplies on hand to defend against big waves of creatures.
And the last challenge tops on wave 20 after you struggle through 19 waves. This is where the build you have cultivated from the start truly comes into play.
If you win, you can attempt higher "Danger" levels or try "Endless" mode and see how long you can survive with your character.
Note: Shell Survivor is currently designed for desktop browser play; touch controls for mobile devices are not yet available.
- Work on a focused weapon kit: Don't spend resources on various disparate weapons; instead, focus on one or two weapon types.
- Keep moving: Never stand still in the middle of the arena. Look for open spaces so monsters don't surround you.
- Utilize the merging mechanic: Combine two identical weapons of the same tier to create more powerful gear and make efficient use of your weapon slots.
- Don’t spend all your funds on refreshing the shop: The cost to refresh the inventory increases with each use during a single shop visit. Instead, use the "lock" feature to secure items you need for later purchase.
- Prioritize survival over gathering resources: Any uncollected resources will be converted into bonus rewards in the next wave, so there’s no need to take risks to grab every single item.
- Search for map items: Collect healing fruit, open supply crates, and try to catch special enemies that are fleeing while carrying resources.
In addition to the 20 wave mode, Shell Survivor also has 1 "Endless" mode for players who want to keep fighting past the primary objective.
Also, it allows any bans on certain items on the game before a run. This feature lets you curate the pool of available gear, enabling you to experiment with various character builds.
It's a nice touch that your active run progress is saved, so you can return and pick up where you left off rather than re-travel the whole journey.
It's a frenetic, bite-sized spin on survival where you'll need to ensure you hold onto your items. Seventeen characters, dozens of weapons, scaling difficulty; your possibilities for smiting the alien hordes and proving your mettle are endless. Now go Shell Survivor: Collect your 6 weapons and defeat the final boss at wave 20!
